Sharon's Journey
Sharon's Journey: From fax machines to the digital age - and she's still shaping the future of the property industry!
The property industry has evolved
dramatically over the past three decades, and few have had a front-row seat to
these changes quite like Sharon. With nearly 30 years of experience, her
journey is one of passion, adaptability, and a deep connection to the local
community.
We all remember our
first job—sometimes just a stepping stone, sometimes life-changing. For Sharon,
it was the latter. Her first role in an estate agency introduced her to the
industry. After taking a break to raise her children, she leveraged her extensive
administrative and secretarial experience to enter a new role at Sneller Commercial.
Let's just say that when she started, she worked on an Amstrad computer with a
fax machine and no email!
Working alongside
Sharon, I can see why she is the perfect fit. She is detail-oriented, always on
the go, and her organizational skills are second to none. But above all, she
genuinely cares about what she does. Over the years, this dedication led her to
achieve her Associate RICS qualification—a testament to her expertise and
commitment.
Most of her job
involves managing the sales and lettings of retail and small business premises;
her approach is thoughtful and strategic, always ensuring the best outcome for
clients. In her own words:
"I want to
give them the best advice for the outcome they wish to achieve in their
property matters."
Sharon believes, as
we do too, that her work helps shape the local community. Born and bred in
Teddington, she knows every corner of the neighbourhood, the past and present, like the
back of her hand; she is genuinely passionate about the area. She describes it perfectly:
"The Richmond Borough offers everything
you need—great connections to London, Heathrow Airport, and the M25 motorway.
The local amenities are fantastic, with a variety of pubs and restaurants, and
the River Thames and parks make it an even more attractive place to work and live."
Her deep knowledge
of the area is
unmatched, and her passion for it is undeniable.
Throughout her
career, Sharon has seen significant changes in the property sector. She
highlights three major shifts: from the early days of online shopping to the
transformative effects of COVID-19, consumer habits have changed dramatically;
the rise of remote work and increased occupational costs have reshaped demand
for office spaces; and amendments to property use regulations have had a
lasting impact on shopping centres and high streets. She has remained a steady
force through the highs and lows of recessions, navigating these changes with
resilience and expertise.
Even after so much time
dedicated to the job and location her passion remains as strong as it ever did.
She continues to love what she does and hopes to inspire the next
generation:
"Go for it!
It's an exciting and diverse role where learning never stops."
Sharon's dedication
continues to shape the industry and local community, making a meaningful impact
every day.
